MECA Therapies is seeking a compassionate Physical Therapist (PT) to join our Early Intervention (FIT) team serving infants and toddlers throughout New Mexico.

Our Early Intervention therapists provide family-centered therapy services in children's natural environments, including homes, daycares, and community settings. We partner with families to help children achieve developmental milestones during the most critical years of growth.

Position Summary

The Early Intervention Physical Therapist evaluates and treats infants and toddlers (birth to three years of age) with developmental delays, disabilities, orthopedic conditions, neurological disorders, and other medical diagnoses. Services are provided in natural environments while collaborating with families and interdisciplinary team members to promote functional mobility, developmental skills, and participation in daily routines.


Qualifications

Required

  • Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) or qualifying Physical Therapy degree.
  • Current or eligible New Mexico Physical Therapy License.
  • Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and automobile insurance.
  • Ability to travel throughout assigned service areas.
  • Strong communication and documentation skills.

Preferred

  • Pediatric Physical Therapy experience.
  • Early Intervention or Birth-to-Three experience.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish).

Essential Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive developmental and physical therapy evaluations.
  • Develop individualized treatment plans based on child and family priorities.
  • Provide therapy in homes, daycares, and community settings.
  • Coach parents and caregivers to incorporate therapy into daily routines.
  • Participate in IFSP meetings, TTCMs, annual reviews, and transition planning.
  • Collaborate with Family Service Coordinators and interdisciplinary teams.
  • Complete documentation within required timelines.
  • Maintain compliance with New Mexico FIT, HIPAA, and MECA requirements.

Caseload & Productivity Expectations

  • Maintain an assigned caseload averaging approximately 30 direct therapy visits per week (or part-time equivalent).
  • Meet established productivity expectations while maintaining high-quality, family-centered care.
  • Caseloads may be adjusted based on evaluations, supervision responsibilities, program needs, and other assigned duties.

Documentation & Compliance

  • Complete therapy documentation at the time of service whenever possible.
  • Submit evaluations, treatment notes, progress reports, and required documentation within established program timelines.
  • Complete FIT evaluations within three (3) business days, unless prior approval for an extension has been obtained.
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant medical records in accordance with HIPAA, payer, and regulatory requirements.

Professional Development

  • Maintain an active New Mexico Physical Therapy license and complete all continuing education requirements.
  • Participate in mandatory company meetings, clinical trainings, and professional development activities.
  • Collaborate with and mentor colleagues as appropriate.
  • Provide family education to promote carryover of therapeutic interventions in daily routines.

Supervision Opportunities

  • Experienced Physical Therapists may have opportunities to supervise:
  • Physical Therapist Assistants (PTAs)
  • Physical Therapy students during clinical rotations
  • Supervision responsibilities will be performed in accordance with the New Mexico Physical Therapy Practice Act and applicable licensing board regulations.
