Principal Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions)
- Manage the safe and efficient preparation of senior dining services following all Meals on Wheels People Food Service Manual procedures and Health Department regulations.
- Provide management and oversight of meal preparation, including scratch cooking, ethnic meal preparation, and service for the Meals on Wheels program and senior dining.
- Manage and maintain adequate levels of food and non-food items, ensuring product is safe, secure and properly stored.
- Establish a positive, welcoming atmosphere for all participants and volunteers.
- Assist Site Manager as necessary with responsive hunger relief services.
- Supplemental meals for clients with food insecurity.
- Meal services for partnerships and contracts.
- Ethnic meals.
- Programming in response to isolation.
- Assist in training and supervision of kitchen and dining room volunteers.
- Maintain high kitchen standards in sanitation and safety in accordance with all regulations.
- Maintain and update client and volunteer information in data management systems.
- Complete all required administrative tasks as assigned.
- Participate in in-service training and attend required meetings.
- Have knowledge of Meals on Wheels People annual agency wide events and fundraising initiatives.
- Support the mission, goals and objectives of Meals on Wheels People, Inc.
- Other duties as assigned.

Work as a Home Delivery Coordinator managing the daily Home Delivery Program or as a Site/Kitchen Coordinator preparing dining services for our congregate meal participants. Here, flexibility is key! Education & Knowledge
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Valid Food Handler’s Certification or ability to obtain within two weeks from date of hire.
- Current ServSafe certification or ability to obtain one within 18 months of hire.
- Valid driver’s license, auto insurance and transportation required.
- CPR certified or ability to obtain within 18 months from date of hire.
Skills, Abilities & Experience
- Proven experience to effectively manage, engage and retain volunteers.
- Bilingual/Bicultural English/Spanish, Vietnamese, Russian, Asian or African languages strongly preferred.
- Excellent organizational, record keeping, time management and multi-tasking skills including the ability to set priorities and be flexible to last-minute changes.
- Ability to work in a team environment and effectively communicate with diverse populations including minority, low income and persons with disabilities.
- Strong ability to problem solve and implement solutions.
- Proficient in computer applications and MS Office suite.
- Ability to quickly learn new computer programs; experience with client data management systems a plus.
Working Conditions/Physical Demands
- Fast paced, with significant people interaction.
- Ability to repetitively move 25lbs regularly and up to 50lbs; routinely moves cooler and cooler bags from one location to another and from various heights in preparation of and for the completion of meal delivery; ability to ascend stairs and move around on city sidewalks.
- Sitting for short periods of time and typing.
- Dexterity of hands and fingers required for operation of general office equipment.
- Must successfully complete and pass Meals on Wheels People pre-employment screening.
Any satisfactory combination of experience, training and/or education which ensures the ability to perform the work may substitute for the above qualifications.
