Volunteer Coordinator
Position Description:
The Volunteer Coordinator oversees volunteer engagement, management, and reporting. Meals For The Elderly maintains high standards in recruitment, orientation, scheduling, and recognition. This role requires collaborative leadership and flexibility to support the Mission’s needs. Working in a team environment and independently at times to ensure the department is successful.
Qualifications:
· A college degree in education, communications, sociology, psychology, management, or a closely related discipline is preferred.
· Demonstrated proficiency and experience in volunteer administration, project management, and database handling are considered advantageous.
· Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities, along with strong interpersonal skills, are required. Highly developed organizational skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications are essential.
· Candidates should demonstrate adaptability to evolving best practices and maintain attention to detail.
· The ability to collaborate effectively with individuals from varied age groups, backgrounds, skill levels, and abilities is vital.
· A commitment to the mission and objectives of Meals For The Elderly is required.
Responsibilities:
· Execute all duties required for effective operation of the volunteer program.
· Organize and maintain volunteer records and background checks.
· Coordinate with all departments and schedule volunteers for meal delivery, office assistance, kitchen service, and fundraising events.
· Recruit, train, schedule, and motivate volunteer staff as needed by Meals For The Elderly.
· Screen and interview prospective volunteers.
· Maintain records as necessary for accountability of volunteers.
· Coordinate with the Marketing Director to plan recognition for volunteers, including recognizing volunteers daily on an informal basis.
· Effectively manage relationships with volunteers so as to foster volunteer satisfaction and retention.
· Maintain updated volunteer job descriptions on both web-based and physical listings.
· Conduct tours of the Meals For The Elderly facility and provide information on the program as needed.
· Other duties/responsibilities as assigned and deemed necessary.
