Job Objective: Meadville Housing Corporation is seeking to hire a Residential Maintenance Technician to support our rental housing operations. This hands-on role involves electrical, plumbing, heating, and grounds maintenance across our portfolio of residential properties. We’re seeking a full-time and dependable maintenance professional who takes pride in keeping homes safe, functional, and well-maintained.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform electrical, plumbing, HVAC, general building, grounds maintenance, and any other repairs when necessary.
- Perform preventative maintenance measures as needed.
- Perform tasks using the proper use of all tools and equipment to ensure a safe working environment.
- Supervises and works with seasonal summer help to achieve completion of exterior grounds work.
- Collaborates with other MHC Staff members, third-party contractors, and vendors.
- Respond quickly in the event of an emergency and notify appropriate personnel as soon as possible.
- Installs and maintains all fire and carbon monoxide alarms.
- Assists with annual inspections of units.
- Assists with the removal and discarding of tenant items from units where needed.
- Performs paid on-call duties when needed.
- Assists with required Safe Drinking Water procedures as outlined by the PA Department of Environmental Protection.
- Performs all other duties as assigned by supervisors and management staff.
- Required to work closely and efficiently with the Head of Maintenance, Painting Staff, Resident Manager, and Executive Director.
Physical Requirements:
- Able to lift objects (team and/or solo lift) of various weights.
- Good Physical Stamina and Dexterity.
- Strong customer service skills.
Qualifications
- High School or equivalent diploma required; vocational training preferred.
- Minimum 1-2 years of maintenance experience.
- Strong to intermediate knowledge of basic electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems.
- Have good knowledge of troubleshooting techniques.
- Willingness to learn on the job and adhere to company safety procedures.
- Able to use a smartphone for maintenance reporting and communications.
- A Certified Safe Drinking Water Operator License is a significant advantage.
Key Requirements
- Able to work after hours and weekends as needed.
- Able and willing to operate a pickup truck with an attached snowplow.
- Must hold a valid Pennsylvania driver’s license.
- Must complete and pass a physical screening.
- Must pass a background check.
- Standard Daytime Shift - Monday through Friday 8 AM to 4 PM with overtime opportunities.
