How you'll contribute

A Nurse Extern who excels in this role:

• Direct patient care under the direction, delegation and supervision of a Registered Nurse.
• Documents patient care given.
• Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition as appropriate to supervising RN.
• Maintains positive professional relationship with patient/ families, coworkers, and health care team.
• Assists patients with performing activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
• Collaborates as needed across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including patient transfer, discharge, referral and spiritual/psychosocial support needs.
  Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family and provides patient/family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.
• Works as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.

What we're looking for

Applicants should be currently enrolled in an approved school of nursing and be a third-year student or higher, with expected graduation within 13 months of hire. Additional requirements include:

• Must be in good standing with the approved school of nursing
• Demonstrated clinical competence to safely perform required duties
• Basic Life Support (BLS) – Healthcare Provider certification required
• Strong foundational clinical knowledge and ability to apply learning in a patient care setting
• Effective communication and teamwork skills to collaborate with healthcare staff
• Ability to work in a fast-paced clinical environment while maintaining attention to detail
