Job Summary
The Dietary Manager is responsible for overseeing daily dietary operations in the Assisted Living community, ensuring nutritious, safe, and high‑quality meals are provided in accordance with regulatory requirements, facility policies, and resident preferences. This role includes staff supervision, menu planning, food safety compliance, and maintaining a clean, sanitary kitchen environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Oversee all dietary department operations, including meal preparation, service, and sanitation
Supervise, train, and schedule dietary staff
Ensure compliance with food safety, sanitation, and infection control standards
Enforce proper use of hair restraints, gloves, uniforms, and personal hygiene requirements
Plan menus that meet nutritional standards while accommodating resident preferences and special diets
Monitor food quality, portion control, and presentation
Maintain accurate documentation, including temperature logs, cleaning schedules, and audits
Conduct regular kitchen inspections and address deficiencies promptly
Coordinate with nursing and leadership regarding resident dietary needs
Maintain inventory, ordering, and cost control within budget guidelines
Respond professionally to resident and family concerns regarding dining services
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required
Previous experience as a Dietary Manager, Cook Supervisor, or similar role preferred
Experience in Assisted Living, long‑term care, or healthcare food service highly preferred
Knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations
Supervisory experience required
Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays as needed
Certifications (Preferred or Required Based on State/Facility)
Food Safety Certification (ServSafe or equivalent)
Ability to obtain certifications as required by state or local regulations
