What are the responsibilities and job description for the Airport Civil Engineering Intern position at Mead & Hunt, Inc?
Mead & Hunt, Inc., a nationally recognized professional services consulting firm has a position available for a limited-term, full-time civil engineering intern to work on Aviation projects based at our Middleton, WI office starting in May/June 2026 and ending in August/September 2026. This position will also require work at various project sites as assigned.
The intern will be responsible for assisting engineers, design technicians, and surveyors with civil engineering projects in the following areas:
- Assisting engineers, design technicians, and surveyors with civil engineering projects
- Performing design calculations, quantities, and cost estimates
- Assisting with project report preparation
- Performing field inspection, documentation, and survey work
- Technical research and writing
- Other tasks as assigned.
A valid driver's license, the ability to pass background check to gain access to airport sites, and frequent travel will be required.
Successful candidates must have completed at least two semesters of college-level coursework in civil engineering or related field from an accredited college or university by date of hire.
The ideal candidate will have experience with any/all the following:
- Experience with AutoCAD, Microsoft Office and Civil3D software
- Construction Field experience including observation and documentation
- Understanding of basic grading and testing processes
- Knowledge of airport planning and/or design
- Survey tasks
- Civil/survey engineering coursework
