Job Summary

We are seeking a highly organized and adaptable Patient Services Coordinator to support our mental health and family medicine practices. This position is primarily based in our Bowie office, with a regular split schedule (approximately 50/50 or 60/40) between our Bowie and Silver Spring locations.

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented and thrives in a fast-paced environment while balancing multiple responsibilities. This role plays a key part in delivering an exceptional patient experience while supporting both administrative and operational needs across sites.

Key Responsibilities

  • Greet patients and visitors in a professional, welcoming manner
  • Answer and manage incoming calls, routing messages and inquiries appropriately
  • Schedule appointments and maintain accurate records in the electronic health record (EHR) system
  • Verify insurance coverage and collect co-pays, balances, and past-due payments
  • Support medical collections efforts for outstanding patient balances
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient front desk/reception area
  • Assist with medical records management, including scanning, filing, and documentation
  • Ensure strict compliance with HIPAA and patient confidentiality standards
  • Collect patient samples as ordered by providers (if applicable)
  • Collaborate with providers and clinical staff to meet patient care needs
  • Provide cross-coverage and assist other administrative team members as needed
  • Participate in marketing and outreach initiatives, including community events and patient engagement efforts

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Bilingual (preferred)
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and ICD-10 coding
  • Experience with electronic health record (EHR) systems
  • Understanding of medical billing, collections, and insurance processes
  • Proficiency with multi-line phone systems and scheduling software
  • Strong data entry and typing skills
  • Ability to multitask and remain detail-oriented in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills
  • Flexible, team-oriented mindset with willingness to “wear multiple hats”

  • Split schedule between Bowie and Silver Spring locations (approximately 50/50 or 60/40)
