Postdoctoral Fellow - Leukemia

A Postdoctoral position is available in the Department of Leukemia, The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, Houston, TX, United States. This position reports to Hussein A. Abbas, MD, PhD (primary mentor).

We are seeking a Postdoctoral Fellow to join our leukemia research laboratory. The candidate must possess a robust background in acute myeloid leukemia, stem cell studies, preclinical studies, molecular biology, functional genomics, therapeutic targeting. The candidate will play a critical role in advancing our understanding of leukemia and/or the development of both in vitro and in vivo models to study these mechanisms. The scope of the position is highly translational research where targeted therapies, antibody, cellular therapies or other similar approaches will be employed.

All duties and responsibilities are carried out in compliance with institutional policies, ethical research standards, and applicable federal and state regulations.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

• Conducting experimental research on leukemia.
• Immune and inflammation-based studies in leukemia
• Developing and utilizing in vitro and in vivo models for leukemia research.
• Performing molecular and cellular biology experiments.
• Engaging in functional genomics studies.
• Expertise in Incucyte or other cell killing assays
• Expertise in flow cytometry analysis
• Collaborating with both experimental and computational team members.
  
  

Candidates will learn how to perform translational work. The work will be integrated with immunology, functional genomics and computational results that will allow multidisciplinary learning. Candidates will work in a team-based science allowing building collaborations.

Eligibility Requirements

• Ph.D. in a relevant field (e.g., Molecular and Cellular biology, hematology etc).
• Demonstrated experience with leukemias.
• Proficient in cellular molecular biology techniques.
• Ability to work independently as well as in a collaborative team environment.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Independently able to read and interpret scientific literature, design experiments, troubleshoot experiments and present their work.

MD Anderson offers full-time postdoc positions with a salary ranging from $64,000 to $76,000. depending on the number of years of postgraduate experience.
