JOB SUMMARY: We have an exciting opportunity to join us in supporting one of our valued customers as a Software Systems Engineer. This position will conduct software development in support of Operational Testing on ground-based missile warning systems, optical sensors and space-based assets to assess system performance across the entire architecture using real-world and simulated environments. Apply the principles of software engineering for design, development, maintenance, testing, and evaluation. Conduct operationally realistic testing to identify strengths and weak points in the architecture. Determine interrelationship factors that can adversely affect system effectiveness. Analyze recorded data collected during test evaluations and report out independent findings as prescribed by customer guidance. Create Test Execution Procedures to clearly identify expected operator and test actions during the test events. Generate detailed test reports containing statistical results table and graphs, written findings, deficiency identification, and fielding recommendations. Work with a cohesive team of Test Engineers to accomplish operational test planning, executing, analyzing, and reporting on ground-based missile warning systems to ensure installed system upgrades operate as expected and accomplish mission needs. Confer with other test team members on the acceptability of the test design and analysis results, and provide feedback on other test activities accomplished within the team. Location: On-Site at Schriever SFB in Colorado Springs, CO.
PRIMARY DUTIES:
- Conduct software development in support of testing DoD mission systems to assess mission performance
- Develop tools during test planning that evaluate system's mission data sets to assess system performance using the collected test data, the validated truth data, and the methodologies used during test
- Use statistical analysis tools and methods to evaluate test data and document test results
- Ability to develop software solutions for complex technical issues with limited supervision
- Assist Test Engineers by reviewing and providing software tools to assist test analytics
- Collaborate with engineers to assure that testing requirements are clear and well documented prior to development
- Interpret technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables
- Analyze results and improve future testing iterations
- Use testing tools to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the testing environment
- Proactively seek ways to apply technology to data reduction and analysis processes.
- Communicate with technical and non-technical team members, engineers, managers, and customers
- Work effectively in a diverse group to achieve results through team efforts
REQUIREMENTS:
- 6 – 10 years of Software Engineering experience
- Proficient with the MATLAB programming platform
- Up to 10% travel
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Statistics, Math, Engineering, or related field.
- Language knowledge in Java, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, Python, Perl, Batch/PowerShell/shell scripting
- Operating System Knowledge: LINUX and Windows
- Knowledge of/experience with JMP (statistical software)
- CM Knowledge: Atlassian Suites (JIRA, Bitbucket/Gitlab, Confluence)
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (e.g., Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook)
- Possess a broad understanding of statistics, including data distributions, data sampling techniques, and regression test techniques
- Possess working knowledge of United States Space Force test and evaluation directives
- Both manual and automated testing, preferably for DoD mission systems.
- Knowledge of missile warning, and/or missile defense domain experience is preferred
- Understanding of test fundamentals and able to apply sound principles to test planning and post-test data analysis methods
- Experience with multiple development tools and programing languages
RELEVANT EXPERIENCE: 6 years of Software Engineering experience. Proficient with the MATLAB programming platform.
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Statistics, Math, Engineering, or related field is preferred.
SECURITY CLEARANCE: Top Secret/SCI
