Description
General Summary:
The Electrical Controls CAD Designer develops custom design solutions through interaction with Services and Solutions (SaS) Sales, ESG Engineering/Project Management, and the outside sales force of McNaughton-McKay.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supports the account manager and primary technical point of contact for the customer.
- Collaborates with internal resources to deliver projects that meet or exceed customer expectations.
- Completes engineering projects by organizing and controlling all CAD activities of a project.
- Utilizes familiarity with codes, rules, regulations, best practices and performance standards to monitor compliance to accepted standards and methodologies including UL508A, NEC, NFPA70E, CSA, etc.
- Designs schematics and back panels to current standards of the NFPA 79 Electrical Standard for Industrial Machinery, and the NFPA 70 NEC code books, as well as any identified customer specifications and design criteria.
- Strong background in cross-functional collaboration across mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and controls engineering projects.
- Contributes to the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of quality project management and engineering standards and practices.
- Assists Account Managers and Controls PEs with the identification, design, proposal generation, costing, and delivery of solutions.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
**Candidates must have automotive electrical schematic design experience along with CAD experience(AutoCAD or EPlan)**
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering preferred/or 3 - 5 years of equivalent industry related experience will be considered in lieu of bachelor’s degree.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks with minimal supervision (time-management skills).
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office products and Trend business system.
- Strong Knowledge of AutoCAD and automotive control/National Electrical Code standards with regards to circuit protection, wiring methods, wire and component identification, grounding requirements, etc.
- Strong knowledge of design and visualization software such as EPlan and AutoCAD.
