What a day looks like
In Grantsburg, WI, you start your day by opening the MRP queue. New part requests from Engineering are waiting. You line up supplier RFQs, compare quotes, and negotiate pricing to secure quality parts at the best value. As production shifts into gear, you release and manage purchase orders so schedules stay on track. If a shipment slips or an invoice doesn’t match, you jump in—resolving delivery, pricing, invoicing, or quality issues swiftly so operations don’t miss a beat.
Impact you’ll make
- Source materials and services that meet quality expectations while optimizing total cost.
- Request quotes for MRP-listed items and ad‑hoc needs from Engineering or other departments.
- Negotiate supplier contracts and pricing to achieve favorable terms and conditions.
- Manage purchase orders and track shipments to ensure timely delivery of goods and services.
- Process POs to support production schedules and prevent line-down events.
- Troubleshoot and resolve delivery, price, invoice, and quality discrepancies.
- Pitch in on additional tasks as needed to support the business.
What you bring
- High school diploma (or equivalent).
- 5 years of purchasing experience in a manufacturing setting preferred.
- Strong negotiation, communication, and vendor relationship skills.
- Comfort with Microsoft Office and procurement software; capable with data analysis and decision-making.
- Meticulous organization and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate across teams.
Schedule and tools
9/80 work schedule with alternating Fridays off—26 additional days off each year.
- Proficiency: Sourcing and procurement; AS9100 experience.
- Systems: Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES); familiarity with MRP.
