Position Summary
MCM Composites, LLC is seeking a detail-oriented CNC Setup Technician to join our manufacturing team. This role is responsible for setting up CNC machines for production, ensuring parts meet quality standards, and maintaining efficient machine operation. The ideal candidate has strong mechanical aptitude, understands machining principles, and is committed to producing high-quality parts safely and efficiently.
Essential Qualifications
- Understanding of G-code and M-code functions for vertical mills.
- Knowledge of work offsets and cutter compensation.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, including Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
- Proficient in the use of precision measuring equipment, including:
- Calipers
- Micrometers
- Pin gauges
- Height gauges
- Other standard inspection tools
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience setting up CNC machining centers in a production environment.
- Experience with Haas CNC controllers is preferred but not required.
- Forklift experience or certification is preferred but not required.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up CNC machines for production by loading and unloading fixtures.
- Upload and verify existing CNC programs.
- Perform first-piece ("first shot") inspections and make necessary adjustments before production begins.
- Adjust work offsets and cutter compensation to maintain part accuracy.
- Conduct in-process quality inspections throughout production using precision measuring equipment.
- Perform routine CNC machine maintenance, including:
- Greasing fittings
- Checking oil, grease, and coolant levels
- Reporting maintenance concerns as needed
- Move work-in-process (WIP) and finished goods throughout the production area using a forklift. (After forklift certification)
Additional Responsibilities
- Assist with loading and unloading trucks using a forklift as needed.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Follow all company safety policies and quality standards.
- Collaborate with supervisors, operators, and quality personnel to resolve production issues and improve efficiency.
Physical Requirements
- Regularly stand, walk, bend, and reach throughout the workday.
- Occasionally lift and carry fixtures and parts weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Safely operate manufacturing equipment and powered industrial vehicles, when qualified.
