Assistant Professor, Vocational Nursing (Tenure Eligible)

This is a full-time faculty position responsible for teaching nursing theory, clinical practice, and simulation in a one-year Vocational Nursing certificate program, with additional responsibilities for coordinating clinical learning experiences. The faculty member plans, supervises, and evaluates student learning in the classroom, simulation lab, and assigned clinical healthcare facilities while ensuring effective coordination and communication with clinical partners. Responsibilities include delivering instructional content, assessing student performance in both didactic and clinical settings, and supporting simulation-based learning to enhance critical thinking and clinical decision-making. Additional duties include advising students, maintaining office hours, participating in college committees and professional development, and collaborating across departments to support student communication, computation, and problem-solving skills. Faculty are expected to accept courses as assigned which could include non-traditional venues, such as evening, weekend, dual-credit, blended, hyflex, and/or online courses. This position reports to the Program Director for Vocational Nursing and exercises no supervision.

Knowledge of: 1. Vocational nursing principles, clinical practices, and current standards of patient care; 2. Evidence-based practices and current trends in nursing and nursing education; 3. Teaching and learning theories applicable to vocational nursing and adult learners; 4. Simulation-based learning and its integration into health care education; 5. ADA standards as they apply to instruction; Skills in: 6. Curriculum development, instructional design, and course assessment in nursing education; 7. Delivering classroom, laboratory, simulation, and clinical instruction that promotes critical thinking and clinical decision-making; 8. Evaluating student learning outcomes and clinical performance using fair and consistent assessment methods; 9. Using instructional technologies and learning management systems to support teaching and student engagement; Ability to: 10. Collect, analyze, and report instructional or program data to support continuous improvement; 11. Advise and mentor students regarding academic progress, professional development, and program requirements; 12. Communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing, with students, colleagues, and clinical partners; 13. Collaborate effectively with faculty, staff, and clinical agencies to support program and student success; 14. Support departmental goals, college values, and initiatives that promote student engagement and success; 15. Establish and maintain positive, professional working relationships with colleagues, students, and community partners; 16. Provide caring, high-quality service by creating welcoming experiences, communicating clearly and proactively, addressing needs with professionalism and empathy, and ensuring individuals are thoughtfully connected to appropriate resources.

Physical effort-restricted: Sustained posture or intense attentiveness for prolonged periods. Light lifting (less than 30 lbs.), some walking, pushing, and pulling on a regular basis. Work environment-Minimal hazard/exposure: Standard office setting. At least minimal environmental controls to assure health and comfort.
