EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
This is a full-time position. Instruct courses in Veterinary Technology and assist in clinical/practicum supervision. Supervise, and evaluate students in clinical experiences. Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to: student advising, maintaining office hours, maintaining program supplies and equipment, participating in college committees, promoting and supporting extra-curricular activities, participating in professional development, and working across departments to develop student communication, computation, and problem solving skills; may include evening, weekend, off-campus, and television/internet courses; must be able to travel to clinical facilities. Faculty are expected to accept courses as assigned including face-to-face and non-traditional venues, such as evening, weekend, dual credit, blended, and/or online courses. This position reports to the Program Director of Veterinary Technology and exercises no supervision.
NOTE: This is a security sensitive position and an appropriate background investigation will be made on applicants being strongly considered for this position.

SELECTION CRITERIA:
The cover letter should address how the following knowledge, skills, and abilities were acquired:
Knowledge of: 1. Subject matter; 2. Professional development planning; 3. Trends in teaching/learning theory as it applies to Veterinary Technology; 4. Pertinent Federal, State rules and regulations; 5. OSHA requirements as they relate to Veterinary medicine; 6. Computer as a tool for instruction and administration; 7. ADA standards as they apply to instruction; Skills in: 8. The performance of clinical/treatment activities expected of a licensed veterinary technician in a veterinary practice; Ability to: 9. Maintain office hours; 10. Advise students; 11. Teach at the postsecondary level; 12. Use technology in support of instruction; 13. Evaluate student performance; 14. Promote and support extra-curricular activities; 15. Work across departments to develop student communication, computation and problem solving; 16. Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work; 17. Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing; 18. Use the computer as an instructional tool as well as administratively.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
Restricted-Sustained posture, for prolonged periods; light lifting, some walking, pushing, pulling on a regular basis. Work environment-Minimal hazard/exposure: Standard office setting. Exposure to a variety of animals in the lab/clinical setting. At least minimal environmental controls to assure health and comfort.
