GENERAL POSITION DESCRIPTION:
Maintain a clean and sanitary environment for the student, employees, and visitors of the college campus. It is also very important that the building(s) assigned are all well supplied with all needed commodities. Any safety hazards and/or needed repairs should be noted and reported to the proper person/department. Employee may not exceed 19.5 hours per week.
REGULAR WORK HOURS: Monday through Thursday 6:30PM to 10:30PM and Fridays 4:30PM to 7:30PM. Hours may vary, dependent upon operational needs; must be available for some flexible scheduling.
NOTE: This is a security sensitive position and an appropriate background investigation will be made on applicants being strongly considered for this position.
SELECTION CRITERIA:
Knowledge of: 1. Assigned buildings, layouts, and areas to be serviced; 2. Standard custodial methods, materials, and safety practices; 3. Commercial custodial equipment and cleaning supplies; 4. Proper handling, storage, and disposal of cleaning chemicals; 5. The college’s mission, values, and commitment to a safe and clean learning environment; Skills in: 6 Performing routine custodial duties, including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, and restroom sanitation; 7. Operating custodial equipment such as vacuums, auto scrubbers, buffers, and hand tools; 8. Following written and verbal instructions; 9. Organizing work tasks and managing time efficiently to complete assigned duties; 10. Using basic technology or electronic systems required for the position (e.g., work orders, timekeeping); Ability to: 11. Read and write at a level necessary to understand work instructions, safety guidelines, and signage; 12. Communicate effectively with supervisors, coworkers, and campus staff; 13. Use basic technology and electronic systems for communication, scheduling, and required job-related tasks; 14. Work independently or as part of a team; 15. Follow safety procedures and use equipment properly; 16. Perform physical tasks associated with custodial work, including standing, walking, lifting, and repetitive movements; 17. Reliably report to work on a consistent and timely basis; 18. Provide caring, high-quality service by creating welcoming experiences, communicating clearly and proactively, addressing needs with professionalism and empathy, and ensuring individuals are thoughtfully connected to appropriate resources.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Exertive-Significant exertion on a daily basis. Awkward positions and sustained activities require strength. Frequent moderate lifting is required. Minimal Hazard/Exposure-Standard office setting. At least minimal environmental controls are in place to assure health and comfort.
BENEFITS:
Part-Time Retirement. Participation in Medicare Part A, but not Social Security (FICA).

Education: Formal or informal education or training which ensures the ability to read and write at a level necessary for successful job performance

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience: Special consideration will be given to those with custodial experience.
