Location: Ooltewah, TN
Job Type: Full-Time / Part-Time
Salary: $15–$24 per hour
About the Role
McLendon Woodworks is a custom furniture and marine woodworking studio specializing in stunning live-edge designs, precision-built cabinetry, resin work, and high-end marine projects (yacht dash panels, boat interiors, and more). We’re currently bidding on several exciting marine jobs and need a reliable, hands-on Woodshop Assistant to jump in and help turn those bids into beautiful, finished pieces. If you love working with wood, take pride in craftsmanship, and want real hands-on experience in both furniture and marine woodworking, this is your spot. No fancy degree required — we train the right person with a strong work ethic.
What You’ll Do
- Cut, sand, assemble, and finish wood projects using table saws, jointers, planers, routers, and hand tools
- Prepare materials and assist with custom builds, including marine-grade cabinetry and yacht components
- Help with 3D scanning, measuring, and layout for precision marine fits
- Keep the shop clean, organized, and safe (dust collection, tool maintenance, sweeping)
- Load/unload lumber and supplies
- Follow strict safety protocols and wear proper PPE
- Pitch in wherever needed on both live-edge furniture and our growing marine workload
What We’re Looking For
- High school diploma or GED
- Previous shop, construction, carpentry, or woodworking experience is a plus (we will train motivated beginners)
- Ability to lift 50 lbs and stand for long shifts
- Solid math and measurement skills (tape measure, fractions, decimals)
- Reliable transportation and a dependable, team-player attitude
- Bonus points for: experience with power tools, reading drawings, finishing work, or any marine/boat background
What We Offer
- $15–$24 per hour starting pay with room to grow as we land more marine projects
- Paid training and skill development in both furniture and marine woodworking
- Flexible scheduling options
- A creative, hands-on shop environment where your work directly impacts custom pieces that ship nationwide (and onto yachts!)
- Opportunity to build real expertise and advance quickly
