What are the responsibilities and job description for the Psychiatrist- Per Diem position at McLean Hospital?
Job Description Summary
The Per Diem Staff Psychiatrist (MD) performs the functions of evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment formulation of individual treatment plans for psychiatric patients (with a variety of psychiatric diagnoses), to conduct routine non-clinical forensic evaluations (e.g., commitment, guardianship), and to direct the ongoing care of patients.
* Provides clinical services including pharmacotherapy and psychotherapy
* Maintains contact with family members as appropriate
* Documents in the record by the completion of treatment plans, patient encounter forms, appropriate progress notes, clinical summaries, and other documentation in accordance with hospital policies.
* Serves as liaison to other health care professionals including mental health practitioners and others
* Provides interface with payers and managed care organizations through the completion of timely and effective reviews and necessary authorizations.
* Participates in program and hospital administrative activities (e.g., staff meetings, CQI, hospital committees, etc.)
* Maintains awareness of medicolegal/risk management issues.
* Participates in the hospital teaching and research efforts.

Qualifications - External
Degree: M.D. degree (or equivalent as confirmed by ECFMG) required
License: License to practice medicine in the Commonwealth of MA or in the state where services are provided.
Experience: 3 to 4 years formal residency education in a program approved by the RRC of the ACGME. ABP&N eligible or certified psychiatrist.
