What are the responsibilities and job description for the Liquid Injection Molding (LIM) Engineer position at McLaughlin Associates Inc.?
Job Scope:
This individual will be responsible for LIM new product development projects. This includes research, development, managing projects through each stage of the concept-to-launch process, from detailed cost estimate, to successful prototyping, and finally commercialization, while meeting customer specific requirements as well as company targets and quality standards (ISO 13485 / IATF 16949).
Primary Responsibilities:
1. Thoroughly document project information, including communication with the customer about deadlines and performance requirements, concept ideas, risk analysis, coordination with external vendors, and action items.
2. Working closely with Sales, Chemists, and Advanced Product Development, define the customer’s needs and establish the materials, processes, equipment, and design features most likely to combine into a successful solution.
3. Guide and expedite all stages of prototype associated with new product development using project management best practices, including establishing timelines and milestones, appropriate escalation, preventing scope creep, proactive reminders, and ensure realization of deliverables.
4. Lead First Article Inspection (FAI), ISIR and/or PPAP, and IQ/OQ/PQ associated with new product design.
5. Incorporate lean manufacturing and APQP principles throughout the development process.
6. Continually improve essential technological skill sets that will position this function.
7. Provide technical support to the commercial/operations/quality teams.
8. Communicate and provide timely, professional responses to customers, both internal and external.
9. Us of simulation tools and test database in order to provide application support to both internal and external customers.
Education, Experience, and Skills Required:
- Bachelor Degree in Engineering or Engineering technology a must.
- At least 5 years of experience with LIM or LSR a must.
- At least 5 years of project management and new product development.
- Ability to use data and facts to explore non existing solutions and processes.
- Able to work effectively across all functional levels and departments, as well as independently.
- Familiarity of robotics, vision inspection systems, and PLC programming preferred.
- Knowledge of Epicor ERP system or equivalent is preferred.
- Blueprint reading including GD&T dimensioning as well as review of 3D files preferred.
- Proficient use of Microsoft Office Suite software.

Salary : $100,000 - $110,000
