Staff Accountant – Trust Operations

Position Overview
Reporting to the Director of Finance and Accounting Manager, the Senior Staff Accountant / Payroll Specialist plays a key role in ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of payroll and core accounting functions. This individual will also contribute to financial reporting, budgeting, and process improvements, making this a well-rounded and impactful role.

Key Responsibilities
- Own end-to-end payroll processing, including bi-weekly, monthly, and off-cycle payrolls
- Administer and track Paid Time Off (PTO) in accordance with firm policies
- Partner closely with Human Resources on payroll-related benefits, deductions, and reporting
- Maintain strict confidentiality of payroll, compensation, and benefits data
- Prepare and upload 401(k) deferral files; support compliance testing and employer match calculations
- Assist with annual budgeting, with a focus on compensation and various expense accounts
- Contribute to month-end and year-end close processes
- Prepare accurate and timely financial statements, including profit and loss reporting
- Perform monthly bank reconciliations and general ledger account analysis
- Support ad hoc financial analysis and special projects led by Finance leadership
Qualifications
- Associate’s degree required; Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
- 10 years of relevant payroll and accounting experience, ideally in a professional services environment
- Experience with ADP Workforce Now or similar payroll systems strongly preferred
- Strong working knowledge of payroll compliance, reporting, and benefits coordination
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and solid overall systems aptitude
- Exceptional attention to detail, organization, and accuracy
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet critical deadlines
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative, team-oriented approach
- Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and professionalism
