What are the responsibilities and job description for the Receptionist/Office Assistant position at MCL Construction?
Receptionist/Office Assistant (Part-Time) — MCL Construction | Omaha, NE
MCL Construction has been building Omaha and the surrounding region since 1987. We build with integrity, show up with purpose, and leave every project — and every relationship — better than we found it. Our reputation is built on people who show up, lead from the front, and take real pride in what gets built.
We're looking for a Receptionist/Office Assistant who brings warmth and professionalism to every interaction, keeps things running smoothly behind the scenes, and understands that a great first impression matters — because at MCL, every person who walks through our door matters.
The job title is Receptionist. The real job is setting the tone.
You're the first voice people hear and the first face they see. Whether it's a client, a subcontractor, or a job candidate — the experience they have the moment they reach MCL starts with you. If getting that right feels important rather than small, you're our kind of person.
Your Day-to-Day
Front Desk & First Impressions
- Answer and direct incoming calls promptly and professionally
- Greet and welcome every visitor — clients, guests, and employees — and make them feel expected
- Direct guests to the right people or meeting rooms
- Keep the reception area clean, organized, and professional at all times
Communication & Coordination
- Serve as the first point of contact for general inquiries — in person and by phone
- Coordinate visitor sign-in and check-in procedures
- Notify employees of guest arrivals and deliveries in a timely way
Mail, Deliveries & Admin Support
- Receive, sort, and distribute incoming mail, packages, and courier deliveries
- Assist with outgoing shipments including overnight and special deliveries
- Support meeting coordination and scheduling as needed
- Help maintain office supply inventory and place orders when needed
- Assist with company events and meetings and take on additional projects as assigned
The Right Fit
You're the right person if you:
- Have 1–3 years of experience in a receptionist, admin, or customer service role
- Hold a high school diploma or equivalent; associate's degree is a plus
- Communicate clearly and professionally — on the phone, in person, and in writing
- Are proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and comfortable with office phone systems
- Stay organized and pay attention to the details others miss
- Handle a fast-paced environment without losing your cool or your friendliness
- Take pride in a tidy, welcoming workspace — and keep it that way without being asked
Our Values
We hire for character as much as credentials. The four things that define every person who succeeds at MCL:
- Passionate — you care deeply about the work, the craft, and the people around you. This isn't just a job to you.
- Dedicated — you show up fully, every day. When it gets hard — and it will — you don't check out.
- Thorough — details matter. You don't hand something off or close something out until it's actually done right.
- Respectful — to the owner, the sub, the laborer, and everyone in between. Respect isn't situational here — it's the baseline.
If you're looking for something to pass the time — this isn't your place. If you take genuine pride in doing the small things right and making people feel welcome, we want to talk.
What You're Walking Into
A company that has been doing right by its people and its clients since 1987 — in that order. You won't get lost in a corporate org chart or handed a role with no room to grow. You'll work alongside people who have been here for decades, on projects that show up in the Omaha skyline, and inside a culture where your judgment is trusted and your work actually matters.
We're not perfect. Construction is hard. But when something goes sideways, we fix it together — and we don't point fingers on the way.
If you want to do meaningful work with people who hold themselves to a high standard and genuinely have each other's backs, MCL is the place.
This is a part-time position. Benefits vary for part-time roles — contact us for details.
You don't just answer phones. You're the first impression of a reputation built since 1987.
