Laboratory Technical Supervisor
Position Details:
- Hourly Base Rate: $39.78 - $55.70

Key Responsibilities:
Operational & Technical Support

Assist in the direction and coordination of daily laboratory workflow across all sections.

Function as a staff technologist when necessary, including routine assignment to bench duties.

Facilitate the timely resolution of technical and operational issues.

Serve as acting department leader during the Manager’s absence.

Identify age-specific needs of patients and implement appropriate interventions.
Technology Acquisition & Project Management
-
Lead technology acquisition efforts by evaluating, recommending, and implementing new systems, analyzers, and software solutions.

Serve as project manager for new technology implementation, including planning, installation, validation, staff training, and go-live support.

Oversee Help Desk tickets, coordinate technical resources, and ensure timely resolution of issues.

Assist with the build and maintenance of:

Reference laboratory test catalogs

Interfaces and middleware systems

Electronic documents such as policies, procedures, and competency assessments

Collaboration & Problem Resolution

Work closely with subject matter experts to resolve operational, analytical, or quality issues promptly.

Collaborate with laboratory teams, nursing, providers, and other departments to support rapid reporting of accurate, high-quality results.

Assist the Point-of-Care Testing (POCT) Coordinator with daily operations, user training, competency assessment, and troubleshooting.
Leadership & Staff Support

Support hiring processes by conducting interviews with applicants and participating in the selection process.

Conduct staff evaluations and participate in performance management, including progressive discipline when needed.

Assist with staff scheduling, training, and competency documentation.

Foster teamwork, promote positive communication, and cultivate a constructive work environment.

Utilize effective conflict-resolution and problem-solving strategies to maintain a productive workplace.
Compliance & Quality Assurance

Ensure compliance with CLIA, CAP, Joint Commission, and other regulatory requirements.

Maintain understanding of medical necessity rules, government regulations, and accreditation standards.

Evaluate procedures, policies, and workflows for accuracy, efficiency, and regulatory alignment.

Assist with quality assurance, quality control, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications:
Required
-
MLS(ASCP) certification or equivalent credentials meeting CLIA requirements for General Supervisor of moderate- and high-complexity testing.

Minimum five (5) years of experience in all phases of laboratory medicine.

Demonstrated proficiency in laboratory testing methodologies, instrumentation, and quality systems.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Effective organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.

Ability to maintain a positive, professional demeanor in high-stress situations.
Preferred
-
One (1) year of supervisory or leadership experience in a clinical laboratory setting.

One (1) year of experience with Point-of-Care Testing program operations.

Experience with scheduling, personnel management, and staff development.

Basic competency in financial evaluation and budgeting.
