Job Overview:

McKean Veterinary Hospital is a bustling, small animal general practice offering high-quality care in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. We perform soft tissue surgeries, routine and advanced dental procedures, and manage daily emergencies alongside scheduled appointments.

As a Veterinary Technician at McKean Vet Hospital, you’ll work closely with a doctor providing hands-on support in exams, treatments, surgical prep and monitoring, and patient care. This is a fantastic opportunity for techs who thrive in a dynamic environment and want to be part of a collaborative team that prioritizes both patient care and personal growth.

Responsibilities

  • Assist veterinarians during examinations, surgeries, and procedures.
  • Perform routine laboratory tests and analyze samples.
  • Administer medications, vaccinations, and treatments as prescribed.
  • Monitor animal patients' vital signs and overall health.
  • Maintain accurate medical records for each patient.
  • Provide education to pet owners on animal care and health management.
  • Ensure a clean and safe environment by following aseptic techniques.
  • Restrain animals safely during examinations and procedures.

Skills
The ideal candidate will possess the following skills:

  • Strong knowledge of animal physiology and anatomy.
  • Proficiency in animal husbandry practices.
  • Familiarity with dog training techniques.
  • Experience with aseptic techniques in a clinical setting.
  • Competence in animal restraint methods for safe handling.
  • Experience working in a laboratory setting for diagnostic purposes.
  • Excellent communication skills for interacting with pet owners and team members.

Qualifications:

  • Completion of an accredited veterinary technician program – Preferred
  • Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) – Preferred
  • Strong work ethic, attention to detail, and commitment to patient care
  • Team-focused, compassionate, and ready to contribute to a positive workplace
