Job Overview:
McKean Veterinary Hospital is a bustling, small animal general practice offering high-quality care in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. We perform soft tissue surgeries, routine and advanced dental procedures, and manage daily emergencies alongside scheduled appointments.
As a Veterinary Technician at McKean Vet Hospital, you’ll work closely with a doctor providing hands-on support in exams, treatments, surgical prep and monitoring, and patient care. Responsibilities
- Assist veterinarians during examinations, surgeries, and procedures.
- Perform routine laboratory tests and analyze samples.
- Administer medications, vaccinations, and treatments as prescribed.
- Monitor animal patients' vital signs and overall health.
- Maintain accurate medical records for each patient.
- Provide education to pet owners on animal care and health management.
- Ensure a clean and safe environment by following aseptic techniques.
- Restrain animals safely during examinations and procedures.
Skills
The ideal candidate will possess the following skills:
- Strong knowledge of animal physiology and anatomy.
- Proficiency in animal husbandry practices.
- Familiarity with dog training techniques.
- Experience with aseptic techniques in a clinical setting.
- Competence in animal restraint methods for safe handling.
- Experience working in a laboratory setting for diagnostic purposes.
- Excellent communication skills for interacting with pet owners and team members.
Qualifications:
- Completion of an accredited veterinary technician program – Preferred
- Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) – Preferred
- Strong work ethic, attention to detail, and commitment to patient care
