Position Summary
MCJ Construction is seeking an experienced Construction Laborer with a strong background in concrete construction to join our growing team.
This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working with concrete, takes pride in producing high-quality work, and has experience on heavy civil or industrial construction projects. While concrete construction is the primary focus, employees will also assist with underground utilities, mechanical piping, equipment installation, and general site work.
Primary ResponsibilitiesConcrete Construction
- Build and set concrete forms for foundations, walls, slabs, vaults, equipment pads, and water/wastewater structures.
- Install reinforcing steel, dowels, anchor bolts, embeds, waterstops, and miscellaneous embedded items.
- Place, consolidate, screed, finish, cure, and protect concrete.
- Strip and clean forms while maintaining quality standards.
- Assist with layout and elevation control.
- Perform concrete demolition using hand tools and powered equipment.
- Repair, patch, and restore existing concrete structures.
- Ensure finished concrete meets project specifications and quality requirements.
General Construction
- Prepare jobsites, tools, equipment, and materials.
- Load, unload, and transport materials safely.
- Install Schedule 80 PVC, ductile iron, HDPE, and mechanical piping systems.
- Assist with installation of pumps, valves, process equipment, and miscellaneous mechanical systems.
- Read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
- Safely operate hand tools, power tools, skid steers, compact equipment, and other construction equipment as assigned.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
- Follow all company and client safety procedures.
- Work independently or lead a small crew when required.
Preferred Qualifications

- Crew leadership or foreman experience
- Equipment operation (excavators, skid steers, telehandlers, loaders)
Minimum Qualifications
- Minimum 18 years of age
- Valid driver's license (CDL is a plus)
- Ability to perform physically demanding work in all weather conditions
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull 50 pounds regularly
- Ability to climb ladders, kneel, bend, squat, and stand for extended periods
- Ability to accurately read tape measures and construction layouts
- Strong work ethic with dependable attendance
