Forklift Operator

McIntosh Box and Pallet is hiring for a 1st shift Forklift Operator in Rome, NY!

We are looking for a technically skilled and experienced individual with excellent attention to detail to join our team in Rome NY as a Forklift Operator.

Pay: $18 depending on experience

Shift: Monday to Friday 6am to 2:30pm

A Forklift Operator will be responsible for moving material by operating a forklift with the utmost care to ensure efficiency and safety. The goal will be to ensure that material and products will always be at the right place to achieve maximum efficiency. This individual will be responsible, hardworking, and be a team player!

Forklift Operator's job Responsibilities:

• Complete all paperwork including checklist as well as receiving
• Located and stage lumber for machines operators for the jobs that need to be completed from the day
• Put inventory away in proper locations and keep the yard organized
• Keep updated records of inventory and activity logs
• Transport materials to different locations within the facility
• Secure loads to machine before transportation
• Inspect for damages to vehicles
• Follow instructions for operating equipment and keeping records
• Execute assignments in an accurate, timely and safe manner while adhering to production schedules
• Operate and manage technical equipment
• Exchange propane tanks on the back of the lift when it is out of gasoline
• Restack lumber when piles are knocked over or need adjustments
• Assist team members in the yard and on the floor as needed
• Special projects as assigned
• Comply with company policies and safety guidelines as well as identifying workplace hazards
• Help maintain a safe and orderly environment of the facility

Requirements

• Forklift experience preferred
• Mathematical aptitude
• Good organizational skills
• Good written and verbal communication
• Strong work ethic
• High degree of attention to detail

Physical Requirements:

• Regularly sitting on a powered industrial truck
• Frequently lift up to 50 pounds and adjust body position to bend, stoop, stand, walk, turn, pivot, and stand for long periods of time
• Having a good sense of balance
• Having good eye-hand-foot coordination
• Ability to assess weights and judge distances and heights
• Ability to work in varying temperatures, depending upon season
