Residential Director Job Description
Position Summary
The Residential Director provides leadership and oversight of residential programs serving individuals with intellectual developmental disabilities and/or Autism. This role is responsible for ensuring high-quality, person-centered supports in compliance with state regulations, accreditation standards, and organizational values. The Residential Director supervises program supervisors, program specialists and direct support professionals. In addition, they will oversee daily operations, develop and manages budgets, ensure staff development, and fosters strong connections with families, guardians, and community partners.
Key Responsibilities
Program Leadership & Oversight
•Provide strategic and operational leadership for multiple residential homes or facilities.
•Has programmatic and regulatory understanding of licensed and unlicensed residential group homes, supported living and licensed and unlicensed LifeSharing
•Ensure residents receive individualized, person-centered supports that promote independence, safety, and community integration.
•Oversee compliance with state and federal regulations, licensing standards, and agency policies.
•Implement continuous quality improvement initiatives to enhance service delivery.
•Participate, guide and prepare for annual licensing inspections. Have a robust knowledge of the licensing process, being licensing ready and the elements reviewed during licensing inspections
•Oversight of the development and implementation of residential agency-wide policies and procedures
Staff Development & Supervision
•Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate residential management staff and direct support personnel.
•Foster a positive, inclusive, and accountable work culture that emphasizes teamwork and professional growth.
•Develop performance goals and provide ongoing coaching to staff.
•Engage with individuals served within the residential setting to gain a greater understanding of their wants and needs in order to provide a well rounded program delivering the vision of everyday lives.
Fiscal & Administrative Management
•Develop, manage, and monitor residential program budgets.
•Ensure fiscal responsibility while maximizing resources to support residents’ needs.
•Oversee documentation, data collection, and reporting to meet regulatory and internal requirements.
•Participate in recruitment and onboarding, create a process for interviewing, scheduling and hiring in conjunction with ancillary departments
•Have a robust understanding of the Enterprise Incident Management system including previous experience with entering reports, investigations and supporting external entities with updates and fact finding when incidents require additional information.
Community & Stakeholder Engagement
•Build and maintain strong relationships with residents’ families, guardians, support coordinators, and external partners.
•Serve as a liaison with funding sources, regulatory bodies, and community organizations.
•Represent the organization in community forums and professional networks.
Qualifications
Education:
•Bachelor’s degree, Master’s degree preferred.
Experience:
•Minimum 5–7 years in an executive-level position, showing progressive management experience related to the provision of residential services to individuals with an intellectual disability, developmental disability, autism, and/or serious mental illness.
• Leadership experience to include responsibility for all of the following:
•Day-to-day residential agency operations
•Oversight of the development and implementation of residential agency-wide policies and procedures
•Supervision of management-level staff; and Compliance with applicable state and federal regulations.
Knowledge & Skills:
•Current Certified Investigator credentialed
•Medication Administration Trainer preferred; Medication Observer required
•Quality Management Certification preferred
•Supervisory experience of entry level and management level staff
•Strong understanding of state licensing, ODP/Medicaid regulations, and best practices in residential supports
•Proven fiscal management and budgetary skills
•Demonstrated leadership in staff supervision, training, and performance management.
•Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
•Commitment to person-centered planning and empowerment of individuals served.
•Knowledge of Therap preferred, but not required
•Basic computer skills to include but not limited to; email, Microsoft Excel, Word and SharePoint
Work Environment & Expectations
•Ability to travel between program sites and attend meetings as needed.
•Flexible schedule required, including some evenings, weekends, and on-call responsibilities.
•Must successfully complete background checks, clearances, and appropriate driving records.

Salary : $70,000 - $75,000
