Role:
As the in-office Bookkeeper, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing the accounting operations of our construction company. Reporting directly to the Finance Manager, this position will help be responsible for maintaining financial records, managing controls, processing day-to-day transactions, and providing timely reports to ensure the company's fiscal health and compliance with regulatory standards. Your expertise will contribute to the company's growth and success in delivering exceptional projects to our discerning clientele. This is an on-site position.
Responsibilities:
1. Financial Planning and Analysis:
- Develop and maintain financial reporting, budgets, and strategic plans to support business objectives.
- Analyze financial data and provide insights to drive informed decision-making by the Executive Team.
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and financial metrics to assess company performance and identify areas for improvement.
2. Accounting and Reporting:
- Oversee and perform accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and payroll.
- Ensure accurate, timely recording and reporting of financial transactions in accordance with General Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports.
- Coordinate with external auditors to facilitate compliance reviews.
- Reconcile bank transactions.
- Prepare and process payroll information, including proper commissions and deductions.
- Manage accounts, reconcile invoices, and handle month, quarter and year-end close.
- Reconcile balance sheets for every account each month.
3. Cash Flow Management:
- Manage and report cash flow, liquidity, and working capital to support operational needs and project requirements.
- Monitor receivables and payables to optimize cash flow and minimize financial risk.
4. Team Leadership and Development:
- Provide guidance and training on financial policies, procedures, and systems to ensure compliance and efficiency.
- Promote collaboration and cross-functional communication within the finance department and across departments.
The Type of Person Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or CMA certification preferred, but not required.
- Proven experience (2 years) in a financial management role, preferably in the construction or real estate industry.
- Thorough understanding of accounting principles, financial analysis, and budgeting processes.
- Required proficiency in QuickBooks Online and advanced Excel skills.
- Preferred experience with project management software such as JobTread, Buildertrend, Procore, CoConstruct, or equivalent.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
- Excellent communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
