The position is a front-line employee with direct customer contact, evaluating, repairing, assembling, and start up services for valves, actuators, and general process control instrumentation. In addition to technical skills, people skills are vital for effective customer relationship management.
Essential Duties
- Repairs valves, actuators (electric and pneumatic) ,and instrumentation at a customer's facility or at the Swanson Flo in house repair locations
- Calibrates field instruments such as level, pressure, temperature, and flow transmitters
- Diagnose customer problems, proper use of tools and equipment, on-the-job safety practices, and proper job documentation
- Trouble-shoots process control equipment, including valves, actuators and process control instrumentation repairs, are commonly completed either at the customer site or at in-house repair facility
- Ensures that all service to customer equipment is completed efficiently, on time, and correctly according to specifications.
- Assists with shop assembly needs as time permits
- Contributes to building excellent company/customer relations
- Performs other related duties as assigned
REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES
- 3 – 5 years' experience in the repair of valves and actuation preferred
- Knowledge of industrial instrumentation, controls, and setup is preferred
- A working knowledge of process control
- Strong interest in product technology as well as proven mechanical ability
- People skills to work effectively with company personnel and customers, and promote excellent customer relationships at all time
- Ability to obtain safety certifications
- Ability to read and interpret written work instructions, P&ID's, wiring diagrams, technical manuals and has an understanding of basic math skills
- Welding and Machining experience a plus
- Valid driver's license and clear driving record required
- Must be willing to travel up to a week at a time when needed
