Duties
- Prepare examination rooms and assist healthcare providers during gynecological exams, procedures, and treatments.
- Take and record accurate vital signs, including blood pressure, temperature, pulse, and respiration rates.
- Collect patient specimens for laboratory testing such as Pap smears or blood draws (phlebotomy), ensuring proper handling and documentation.
- Manage electronic health records (EHR systems) efficiently by documenting patient encounters, updating medical histories, and coding diagnoses using ICD standards.
- Provide patient education on medications, treatment plans, and health maintenance tailored to women’s health needs.
- Support administrative tasks including appointment scheduling, patient intake processes, insurance verification, and maintaining clinic supplies.
- Assist with basic pharmacology knowledge for medication administration under supervision and ensure compliance with safety protocols.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Medical Assistant in outpatient clinics or hospital settings, preferably within GYN or women’s health practices.
- Strong understanding of medical terminology, anatomy related to gynecology, physiology knowledge, and ICD coding practices.
- Hands-on experience with EMR/EHR systems and electronic health records management.
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) is required; additional certifications such as phlebotomy or X-ray technician are advantageous.
- Familiarity with hospital medicine environments including Level I or Level II trauma centers is a plus; inpatient experience enhances your versatility.
- Excellent patient service skills with the ability to communicate clearly and empathetically across diverse populations.
- Knowledge of emergency medicine procedures and outpatient clinic workflows ensures readiness for varied clinical situations.
