About the Position: The Surgery Counselor is responsible for scheduling surgeries and coordinating all aspects of the pre-surgery process, including patient education and communication with healthcare providers. This role demands a high level of organization, attention to detail, and the ability to effectively communicate with patients, families, medical professionals, and the Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC) to ensure smooth surgical operations.

Key Responsibilities:
Schedule various surgeries, including cataracts, LASIK, Clear Lens Exchange & ICL. Coordinate dates with patients, families, doctors' offices, and the ASC.
- Educate patients on advanced technology refractive surgery options according to the surgeon's recommendations.
- Coordinate pre- and post-operative appointments with patients, caregivers, and/or partnering practices.
- Provide pre-surgery counseling to patients, explaining preparation steps and answering any questions they may have about the process.
- Cancel & reschedule surgeries when necessary and ensure all relevant parties, including patients, doctors, and the ASC, are informed promptly.
- Backfill surgery slots when necessary to ensure schedules are maximized.
- Prepares and assembles medical charts, ensuring all required forms and prerequisites for surgery are met, coordinating with ASC clinic staff and the surgeon's medical practice staff to ensure all necessary documentation and steps are completed accurately.
- Communicates, coordinates, and collaborates with the clinic, ASC staff, and the surgeon's medical practice to ensure timely and accurate scheduling.
- Present out-of-pocket costs for surgery, overcome objections, and present financial solutions, such as financing, to gain commitment to surgery.
