This position has a budgeted hiring rate of $43,880 - $45,880. The position is classified as A2. The A2 salary band for all positions at the college with this classification has a minimum rate of $43,880 and a maximum rate of $63,187.20. This is a full-time, exempt position. For benefit purposes only, the workweek is estimated to be 35 hours per week. The actual schedule for exempt positions may vary based on the workload and responsibilities assigned. Position also includes a residential apartment due to on-call responsibilities.
Job Description:
The Coordinator of Student Engagement is responsible for contributing to the creation and facilitation of a vibrant campus environment that is conducive to positive student development. This includes management of student organizations and co-curricular programs, and the integration of academic experiences with quality out of classroom opportunities.
Specific Responsibilities
Student Organization Advisement and Event Programming
- Assist with the management, oversight, training, and advising of all recognized student organizations.
- Consult with student organizations, student organization advisors, and campus departments regarding organization management, budgeting, program and event planning/management, risk management, college business practices (Purchasing, Accountants Payable, etc.), and college policy.
- Facilitates late night and weekend programming for the McDaniel student body on a regular basis and assists student organizations in event coordination and planning events and fundraisers.
- Co-advise the student-driven programming organization (Green Terror Programs); attend meetings, events and programs as necessary.
- Act as point person for collaborative or joint co-curricular programming and/or service initiatives with other departments, faculty and staff, student organizations and their advisors.
- Responsible for assisting with the development and coordination of on-campus activities, including major events such as Welcome Weeks, Family Weekend, and Homecoming, as well as off-campus programming.
- Work collaboratively with offices across campus to support programming for the McDaniel Commitment, including the McDaniel Local summer pre-orientation program and Jan-term My Design program.
Technology & Marketing
- Oversees Office of Student Engagement social media accounts in collaboration with the student graphic designers.
- Gain comprehensive experience with CampusGroups, the student organization management software program. Assists with the student and staff training and marketing efforts related to the use of the software.
- Responsible for event marketing and promotional efforts on behalf of the Office of Student Engagement.
- Represents the Department at involvement presentations during freshman experience classes, Admissions events, McDaniel Local and other college functions that promote the development of student leaders.
Facilities
- Maintain organization system of supplies and materials in Resource Room.
Other Duties
- Assist in the preparation of various department and divisional reports (ie: strategic plan updates, weekly reports, annual reports).
- Designated as a "mandatory reporter," otherwise known as a Campus Security Authority, to report any information about potential, active or previously occurring crime(s) on campus as defined through federal regulation to the Department of Campus Safety immediately upon learning about them.
- Participate in professional development.
Requirements:
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree required, Master's Degree preferred.
- One year of experience working in higher education.
- Experience working with diverse student populations.
- Knowledge of leadership theories and best practices in leadership development programs preferred.
- Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed.
- Ability to reside in on-campus housing.
- Ability to serve in the Residence Life on-call regular rotation throughout the semester. This will involve evening and weekend hours when on-call.

Follow the policies and procedures established by the appropriate data stewards.
- Comply with federal and state laws and regulations as well as college policies, procedures, and standards. Associated with the college computing resources, and institutional data used.
- Use institutional data only as required for the conduct of college business within the scope of employment.
- Implement safeguards prescribed by appropriate data stewards for limited access and restricted data.
- Ensure the appropriateness, accuracy, and timeliness of institutional data used for the conduct of college business.
- Report any unauthorized access, data misuse, or data quality issues to the appropriate data steward for remediation.
- Accept and complete the confidentiality statement yearly, if access includes restricted data.
- Report any suspected data breach to the CIO and the IT Help Desk as soon as possible.
Working Conditions
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is routinely working in a normal office environment with minimal exposure to adverse conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually minimal.

The physical demands described below are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job:

- Some bending and stooping when working with files.
