Crew Leader - 3rd Shift

McCormick & Company, Inc., a global leader in the spice, flavor, and seasonings industry, is seeking a full-time Crew Leader. This new hire will work in the South Bend plant, located at 3425 Lathrop Street, South Bend, IN. The position title will report to a Production Team Manager.

Shift: 3rd Shift - Monday to Friday 10:00pm to 6:30am - Overtime required as needed to include weekend work

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Ensures overall performance of the team to include quality, safety, reliability, waste, and sanitation to achieve business goals.
• Pro-actively encourages continuous improvement and daily problem-solving initiatives to increase operational effectiveness and efficiencies.
• Coaches, trains, and ensures compliance to plant established procedures (including work rule, safety, and sanitation guidelines) while demonstrating a deep respect for the capabilities of all people.
• Ensures that all activities follow documented operating procedures and recommends updates to existing procedures as required.
• Coordinates & schedules crew vacation requests & overtime.
• Determines needs and conducts training required for new & existing employees.
• Ensures product meets quality standards, coordinates problem solving directly with QA floor inspector.
• Resolves minor mechanical and processing problems and makes necessary adjustments to keep the line running.
• Performs job tasks of other team members of jobs of equal or lower grades.
• Facilitates teamwork and coaching among team members.
• Holds meetings for production tracking, problem solving and team development.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Regular on-site attendance is required.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Three years of manufacturing and/or industrial experience required.
• Demonstrated ability to perform changeovers and preventative maintenance on all production equipment required.
• Demonstrated ability to diagnose mechanical problems and resolve minor mechanical and processing problems required.
• Demonstrated ability to understand financial impact of business decision affecting staffing, product components and inventory required.
• Demonstrated computer skills, including knowledge of Excel, Word, statistical database applications & Lotus Notes required.
• Demonstrated ability to pro-actively encourage continuous improvement and daily problem-solving initiatives required.
• Proven ability to coach, train and influence while demonstrating a deep respect for the capabilities of all people required.
• Strong oral and written communication and interpersonal skills required.
• Demonstrated analytical, critical thinking skills to determine risk assessment required.
• Regular on-site attendance is required.
• Ability to work overtime/weekends required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Knowledge of SAP, Infinity, Power Point, Access preferred.
• Demonstrated practice of leadership principles required and formal leadership training strongly preferred.
• Demonstrated competency to operate all equipment in the business strongly preferred.
• Experience effectively leading and facilitating team and cross-functional meetings strongly preferred.
