McCormick Taylor has an immediate opening for an Archeologist I, Field Technician on a temporary, full-time basis in our Cultural Resources Department to supplement archaeological field investigations and lab activities in the Mid-Atlantic. Weekly work will consist of/range from 34-40 hours depending on project type and location.

McCormick Taylor has an immediate opening for an Archeologist I, Field Technician on a temporary, full-time basis in our Cultural Resources Department to supplement archaeological field investigations and lab activities in the Mid-Atlantic. Weekly work will consist of/range from 34-40 hours depending on project type and location.
Responsibilities
- Basic understanding and ability to perform archaeological excavation and recordation techniques (shovel test pits (STPs), test units (TUs), surface collection, plan and profile drawings, etc.)
- Basic understanding and ability to Identify archaeological materials (artifacts, ecofacts, surface features, etc.) and ability to make soil distinctions
- Perform all potential field-related activities including strenuous fieldwork, hiking, and carrying gear in various weather conditions
- Travel to conduct fieldwork. When project travel is required, per diem, hotel room accommodations, and travel mileage are provided
- Process field data in accordance with MT standards
- Ability to follow directions of the Field/Lab Director and Principal Investigator
- Ability to provide thorough descriptive information on standardized forms
Qualifications
- 0 to 2 years of experience
- B.A. in Anthropology/Archaeology or related field (or in progress)
- Completion of an accredited archaeological field school
- Possess a valid driver’s license, ability to drive, and have access to reliable transportation
- Strong communications and writing skills
- Organized team player able to work efficiently under tight deadlines
