Position Summary: The Procurement Specialist supports day-to-day purchasing and supplier coordination activities to ensure the timely and cost-effective acquisition of goods and services. This junior-level role works closely with operations, finance, and vendors to maintain supply continuity, process purchase orders, and uphold procurement policies while gaining hands-on experience in procurement and supply chain operations.
Description of Duties:
- Assist with creating, processing, and tracking purchase orders in accordance with company policies
- Coordinate with internal stakeholders to understand operational purchasing needs
- Communicate with vendors regarding pricing, availability, delivery timelines, and order status
- Maintain accurate procurement records, supplier files, and contract documentation
- Monitor order fulfillment and escalate issues related to delays, discrepancies, or quality concerns
- Support vendor onboarding and basic supplier relationship management activities
- Assist in analyzing spend data and preparing procurement reports
- Ensure compliance with procurement procedures, internal controls, and audit requirements
- Provide general administrative support to the procurement and operations teams
Essential Skills and Experience:
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Basic understanding of procurement, supply chain, or operations concepts
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
- Problem-solving mindset with a willingness to learn and take initiative
- Ability to work collaboratively across teams and with external partners
- Familiarity with purchase order systems, ERP platforms, or procurement software
- Experience working with vendors or supporting operational teams
- Interest in developing a career in procurement or supply chain management
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Operations, Finance, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- 0–2 years of experience in procurement, operations, supply chain, or administrative support roles (internships and co-op experience acceptable)
- Basic understanding of purchasing processes and vendor management preferred
