What are the responsibilities and job description for the Sheet Metal Mechanic / HVAC Duct Installer position at McCaw Heating & Cooling?
McCaw Heating & Cooling is looking for an experienced Sheet Metal Mechanic / HVAC Duct Installer to join our commercial HVAC team.
We are looking for someone who can fabricate, build, and install commercial HVAC ductwork and is comfortable working both in the shop and on active commercial job sites.
Responsibilities
- Fabricate and assemble sheet metal ductwork and fittings
- Read measurements, drawings, and plans to build duct accurately
- Install commercial HVAC ductwork, fittings, dampers, and related components
- Measure, cut, bend, and form sheet metal
- Lay out and build fittings as needed
- Hang and support ductwork properly
- Seal ductwork and complete installations according to project requirements
- Work from blueprints, mechanical drawings, and field measurements
- Coordinate with foremen, superintendents, and other trades on commercial job sites
- Maintain a clean and safe work area
- Follow company and job-site safety requirements
Qualifications
- Previous commercial HVAC sheet metal or duct installation experience preferred
- Experience fabricating ductwork and fittings is strongly preferred
- Ability to read a tape measure accurately
- Ability to read blueprints and mechanical drawings
- Familiarity with common sheet metal tools and equipment
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a crew
- Dependable transportation and reliable attendance
- Ability to lift and carry materials and perform the physical requirements of commercial HVAC work
- Must be willing to follow all job-site and company safety requirements
Experience with rectangular duct, spiral duct, fittings, transitions, offsets, and field fabrication is a plus.
