The Opportunity
Join the McCarthy Cook Team as a Senior Property Accountant working in our Costa Mesa office where we manage an 800,000 sq. ft. amenitized office campus located at the intersection of the I-405, SR 55 and SR 73. We are in search of the ideal teammate to join our highly energetic team. This candidate will handle the accounting of the Costa Mesa campus, our Mountain View office campus and our Mesa (AZ) industrial park. The candidate will closely collaborate with our on-site property management teams. Our ideal teammate will have 4-5 years of industry related experience and be proficient in Yardi, MRI and AvidXchange Software. Does this sound like you? Essential Duties & Responsibilities include (Other duties may be assigned):
- (A/R) accurate & timely processing of monthly billings (rent & other misc. charges), posting of cash receipts, collection calls, etc.
- (A/P) timely processing of vendor invoices and tracking of critical payment deadlines for mortgage, taxes, utilities, etc.
- (G/L) oversee the closing process of the property books (journal entries, accruals, ledger account reconciliations, & research) and maintain balance sheet & related supporting schedules.
- Prepare monthly reports for our joint venture partner including variance analysis explanations.
- Responsible for assisting with other special accounting projects including but not limited to: periodic reporting, orderly filing & maintenance of accounting records, annual budgets, cash flow estimates, capital project cost tracking, CAM estimates & reconciliations, rent roll reconciliations, tenant audits, etc.
Essential Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Accounting
- 4-5 years of industry related experience
- This person would possess excellent verbal and written skills with demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in person and by telephone, email and other written correspondence.
- The ideal candidate will have exceptional analytical, problem solving, mathematical, and organization skills.
- We are looking for a team member who has strong computer aptitude and skills including Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, & PowerPoint).
