We are seeking a Litigation Paralegal to join our team and work closely with attorneys throughout all stages of litigation and non-litigation projects. The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, proactive, and comfortable managing multiple matters, deadlines, and priorities in a fast-paced legal environment.

About McCabe, Trotter & Beverly

McCabe, Trotter & Beverly is a well-established South Carolina law firm dedicated to serving community associations, developers, lenders, landowners, and contractors. While our attorneys practice primarily in the community association space, our legal work encompasses a broad range of matters, including litigation, collections, liens, foreclosures, covenant enforcement, real estate, contracts, governance, and other legal issues.

What You Will Do

As a Litigation Paralegal, your responsibilities may include:

Litigation Support

  • Assist attorneys with the management of litigation matters from initial filing through resolution.
  • Prepare, draft, format, and proofread pleadings, motions, discovery, correspondence, notices, and other legal documents under attorney direction.
  • Prepare and coordinate court filings, service of process, and other procedural requirements.
  • Maintain accurate litigation calendars and track case deadlines, hearings, depositions, mediations, and other important dates.
  • Assist with all aspects of the discovery process, including preparing discovery requests and responses, organizing documents, and tracking discovery deadlines.
  • Organize and maintain complete and accurate electronic and physical case files, including pleadings, discovery, correspondence, exhibits, and other case materials.
  • Prepare exhibits, hearing materials, deposition materials, trial materials, and other documents needed for litigation proceedings.
  • Assist attorneys in preparing for and attending hearings, mediations, depositions, and trials.
  • Communicate professionally with clients, courts, opposing counsel, process servers, and other parties as directed by attorneys.
  • Obtain, review, and organize documents and information from clients and other sources in support of litigation matters.
  • Monitor assigned matters and proactively follow up on outstanding items, missing information, and approaching deadlines.
  • Maintain accurate matter information, billing information, and timekeeping records in the firm's practice-management system.

General Support

  • Prepare, manage and record real estate and corporate documents.
  • Research real property records.
  • Work collaboratively with attorneys, legal assistants, other paralegals, and administrative professionals to ensure matters are handled efficiently.
  • Maintain the confidentiality of client information and firm records.
  • Follow established firm procedures and processes and identify opportunities to improve the efficiency and organization of assigned matters.
  • Perform other paralegal and administrative duties as needed.

What We Are Looking For

We are seeking a paralegal who is organized, dependable, detail-oriented, and capable of taking ownership of assigned responsibilities.

Qualifications include:

  • 3–5 years of paralegal experience, with significant experience supporting litigation matters preferred.
  • Strong understanding of litigation procedures and case management.
  • Experience with pleadings, discovery, court filings, and litigation deadlines.
  • Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple matters, deadlines, and competing priorities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Professionalism and commitment to client service.
  • Ability to work independently while also functioning effectively as part of a team.
  • Strong computer skills and the ability to learn new software and technology.
  • Experience with Clio or another legal practice-management system is helpful but not required.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, including Word and Outlook, is preferred.
  • Ability to handle confidential client information appropriately.
