Responsibilities
- Assist with patient intake by collecting comprehensive medical histories and documenting symptoms related to gastrointestinal conditions
- Measure and record vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration rates with precision
- Prepare patients for procedures, including endoscopies or other diagnostic tests, ensuring comfort and safety throughout the process
- Support physicians during examinations and procedures by handing instruments, managing supplies, and maintaining sterile environments
- Manage electronic health records (EHR systems) accurately, including documentation of clinical notes, ICD coding for diagnoses, and medication administration records
- Educate patients on pre- and post-procedure care, medication instructions, and lifestyle modifications for digestive health management
- Perform basic laboratory tasks such as specimen collection or X-ray assistance as needed in outpatient or inpatient settings
- Maintain a clean and organized clinical environment while adhering to infection control protocols
Minimum Qualifications
- Prior experience working in a clinical setting such as outpatient clinics, hospital medicine units, or specialty practices like dermatology or internal medicine
- Previous hospital experience at Level I or Level II trauma centers or within inpatient units
- Proficiency with EHR systems and medical administrative support
Required Qualifications
- Knowledge of anatomy and physiology related to gastrointestinal systems
- Familiarity with medical terminology, ICD coding, medication administration, and vital signs measurement
- Experience supporting procedures such as endoscopies or assisting in emergency medicine scenarios
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) is mandatory to ensure preparedness for emergency situations
