Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Construction Estimator to join our team and drive the success of our projects from the very start. As a key player in our construction operations, you will be responsible for accurately assessing project costs, preparing detailed estimates, and collaborating closely with project managers, clients, and subcontractors. Duties
- Develop comprehensive construction estimates by analyzing blueprints, specifications, and project scope documents using tools like Bluebeam and HeavyBid.
- Collaborate with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers to negotiate pricing and secure competitive bids that align with project budgets.
- Prepare detailed cost proposals covering labor, materials, equipment, and overhead expenses to support project bidding processes.
- Conduct site visits to gather accurate data on existing conditions and validate estimation assumptions based on construction site experience.
- Monitor project costs throughout the construction process to ensure adherence to budgets through effective cost control strategies.
- Assist in contract review and management by understanding terms related to construction contracts and ensuring compliance with project requirements.
- Support project management teams by providing accurate cost forecasts, risk assessments, and value engineering suggestions to optimize project outcomes.
- Preform accurate takeoffs and cost estimates from plans and specifications.
- Review bid documents and identify scope gaps or conflicts.
- Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier pricing.
- Develop detailed proposals and scopes of work.
- Coordinate with project management and operations teams.
Requirements
- Proven experience in construction estimating with a strong understanding of construction processes and terminology.
- Proficiency in estimation software such as PlanSwift, PlanHub or equivalent tools; familiarity with Bluebeam is highly desirable.
- Solid knowledge of construction site operations, contracts, and construction management principles.
- Excellent negotiation skills to secure favorable pricing while maintaining quality standards.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret blueprints, specifications, and technical drawings accurately.
- Effective communication skills for collaborating with clients, subcontractors, vendors, and internal teams.
- Experience in cost control practices and managing budgets across multiple projects is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of: drywall systems, painting and coatings, metal stub framing, acoustical ceiling grid systems.
- Ability to perform detailed quantity takeoffs and bid analysis.
- Microsoft Excel/Spreadsheets
- Ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines efficiently.
- This position will require a heavy workload and will need quick turnaround time due to high volume of estimate we send out as a company.
