Position Overview
Southeast Cherokee Construction, Inc. is seeking an Assistant Estimator with federal construction experience to support preconstruction efforts on USACE, DoD, NASA and other federal installations.
This is not an entry-level role. The selected candidate must be capable of independently managing trade coverage, reviewing subcontractor proposals for compliance, and supporting multiple concurrent federal solicitations.
Key Responsibilities
· Perform detailed quantity takeoffs across multiple CSI divisions
· Develop and issue comprehensive scope sheets to subcontractors
· Solicit, track, and level bids using BuildingConnected or similar platforms
· Analyze subcontractor proposals for scope completeness, compliance, and risk gaps
· Identify and resolve scope overlaps, exclusions, and pricing inconsistencies
· Assist as needed by Lead Estimator in preparing fully developed estimates using Sage Estimating
· Maintain organized, audit-ready bid files and documentation
· Coordinate with Senior Estimators and PMs for post-award turnover
Minimum Qualifications (Required)
· 3–7 years of construction estimating experience (federal preferred)
· Demonstrated experience with federal solicitations (USACE, NAVFAC, DoD, NASA etc.)
· Strong ability to interpret plans, specifications, and federal contract requirements
· Proven experience performing independent takeoffs and scope analysis
· Proficiency in Excel and estimating software (PlanSwift, Bluebeam, or similar)
· Ability to manage multiple bids under strict deadlines
Preferred Experience
· Direct experience with USACE, NASA and AF projects and specifications
· Familiarity with SAM.gov solicitations and amendment tracking
· Experience with Sage Estimating, BuildingConnected and Autodesk
· Working knowledge of CMMC federal compliance
· Exposure to IDIQ / MATOC / SATOC contract environments
