About the Role:
As a Phlebotomist, you will play a critical role in the healthcare delivery process by expertly collecting blood samples from patients during overnight hours. Your work ensures that laboratory tests are performed accurately and in a timely manner, which directly impacts patient diagnosis and treatment plans. You will be responsible for maintaining a safe and sterile environment while demonstrating compassion and professionalism to patients who may be anxious or unwell. This role requires meticulous attention to detail to properly label and handle specimens, ensuring their integrity for analysis. Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Certified or certified eligible with the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) or National Accreditation Agency (NCA) required.
- Ability to work overnight shifts consistently and reliably.
- Basic knowledge of infection control and safety procedures.
Preferred Qualifications:
- At least one year of experience performing phlebotomy in a clinical or hospital setting.
- Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR).
- Strong interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with diverse patient populations.
Responsibilities:
- Perform venipuncture and capillary blood collection procedures on patients of all ages with precision and care during night shifts.
- Verify patient identity and ensure proper labeling and documentation of all specimens collected to maintain the chain of custody and accuracy.
- Maintain cleanliness and sterility of equipment and work areas in compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Collaborate with nursing staff and laboratory personnel to coordinate specimen collection and timely delivery to the laboratory.
- Monitor and restock phlebotomy supplies to ensure readiness for each shift and report any equipment malfunctions or safety concerns.
