Key Responsibilities
Project Coordination & Support
- Assist the Project Manager with daily oversight of high-volume, production-driven testing operations.
- Support preparation of project schedules, work plans, budgets, and staffing projections.
- Coordinate field and laboratory testing activities, ensuring proper staffing, equipment, and resources.
- Develop and maintain technician schedules to support extended or 24-hour production operations as required.
- Monitor project progress and promptly identify issues or schedule impacts.
- Maintain organized project documentation, including test logs, schedules, certifications, and submittals.
- Review daily field and laboratory reports for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with project specifications (e.g., ASTM, AASHTO, local agency requirements).
- Assist with preparing final test reports and deliverables for clients.
- Support calibration, maintenance, and documentation of CMT equipment in coordination with lab personnel.
- Communicate with clients, contractors, and project teams regarding testing schedules, results, and project needs.
- Respond to routine client inquiries and escalate complex issues to the Project Manager.
- Participate in project meetings, progress reviews, and field coordination sessions.
- Assist with tracking project budgets, productivity metrics, and billing status.
- Support preparation of invoices or time-and-materials documentation.
- Maintain organized records in the company’s project management software.
- Provide on-site support for field technicians or observe complex testing tasks.
- Occasional involvement in field/lab testing to understand project requirements or address technical issues (e.g., concrete testing, soil compaction, asphalt, rebar inspections).
- Associates Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Materials Engineering, or related field.
- 2 years of experience in construction materials testing or construction project coordination as an assistant project manager.
- Valid driver’s license with clean driving record
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks.
- Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
- Proficiency with project management software or scheduling tools.
- Ability to work nights/weekends as required
- Ability to work collaboratively with field technicians, engineers, and clients.
- Problem-solving attitude with attention to detail and quality.
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Materials Engineering or related field.
- 5 years of experience in construction materials testing or construction project coordination as an assistant project manager.
- Experience working with engineering consultants, contractors, or public agencies (DOT, municipalities).
- ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician – Grade I
- NICET Level II or higher in Construction Materials Testing
- WAQTC, ICC Reinforced Concrete, Nuclear Gauge certification, or other regional equivalents
