Position Overview
MBS, LLC is seeking a Safety Consultant to join our Anchorage-based team. This position begins as part-time (10-30 hours per week) during a 90-day probationary period, with the opportunity to transition to full-time employment upon successful completion of the probation period.
This is an in-person position that involves regular on-site visits to jobsites and clients throughout the Anchorage area, with occasional travel to other regions in Alaska as needed. The Safety Coordinator will conduct field inspections, support administrative safety documentation, and assist with training under the direction of the Safety Manager.
Candidates with basic or intermediate safety knowledge are preferred, but we are willing to train the right individual who demonstrates initiative, attention to detail, and professionalism.
Key Responsibilities
Field Safety Duties
- Conduct safety inspections, audits, and observations at various job sites.
- Identify and report safety concerns, hazards, and compliance issues to the Safety Manager.
- Relay site conditions, employee safety practices, and other relevant job site information in a timely manner.
- Assist with delivering on-site safety training and reinforcing safety policies and procedures.
- Support clients in maintaining compliance with OSHA and company safety standards under direction and supervision.
- Participate in meetings and discussions regarding safety performance and improvement.
Safety Administrative Tasks
- Prepare and assist with Job Safety Analyses (JSAs), toolbox talk tracking, and inspection checklists.
- Maintain safety records, inspection logs, training rosters, and incident reports.
- Track and update employee safety certifications, corrective actions, and training compliance.
- Organize and maintain safety documentation both digitally and in hard copy.
- Schedule and coordinate safety training sessions, audits, and client meetings.
- Assist with audit preparation and regulatory documentation.
- Order, track, and maintain inventory of safety equipment, PPE, and safety materials.
- Support the Safety Manager in generating reports and compiling data for performance tracking.
Qualifications
- Secondary education or training in occupational safety and health is preferred.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
- Willingness to travel within Anchorage and occasionally to other Alaska locations.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- Eagerness to learn, grow, and contribute as a team member.
