Job Overview
We are seeking compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professionals to provide exceptional care and support to individuals with developmental disabilities, seniors, and those requiring specialized assistance. Responsibilities
- Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support
- Monitor and record vital signs, patient observations, and overall health status
- Administer medications following care plans and HIPAA guidelines
- Support residents with meal preparation, cooking, and nutritional needs in accordance with dietary restrictions
- Implement individualized care plans tailored to each resident’s needs, including dementia or Alzheimer's care as required
- Use specialized equipment such as Hoyer lifts or resident lifts safely and effectively
- Maintain a clean and safe environment by assisting with light housekeeping duties when necessary
- Provide emotional support and companionship to promote mental well-being
- Document care activities accurately and report any changes in resident condition to supervisors or healthcare professionals
- Follow safety protocols including CPR and first aid procedures; respond promptly to emergencies
Skills
- Prior experience in group home, assisted living, or long-term care environments preferred
- Knowledge of patient care techniques including medication administration, vital signs monitoring, and dementia or Alzheimer’s care
- Certification in CPR and First Aid required; additional certifications such as HIPAA compliance are a plus
- Strong observational skills for patient monitoring and recognizing health or safety concerns
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent communication skills for effective interaction with residents, families, and healthcare professionals
- Compassionate attitude with patience for working with individuals with developmental disabilities or cognitive impairments
- Physical ability for heavy lifting when necessary; capable of assisting residents with mobility needs using appropriate techniques and equipment such as Hoyer lifts
- Basic cooking skills for meal preparation tailored to individual dietary needs
- Knowledge of home & community care practices, social work principles, and home health procedures is advantageous
