Summary:
The Warehouse Supervisor is responsible for the safe, efficient, and accurate operation of warehouse and shipping activities across multiple locations. This position leads warehouse personnel, maintains inventory accuracy, supports domestic and international logistics, and drives continuous improvement initiatives to support manufacturing operations and customer service objectives.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead daily warehouse, receiving, material handling, and shipping operations.
- Supervise, train, coach, and develop warehouse personnel; manage performance, attendance, and staffing requirements.
- Ensure inventory accuracy through proper material control, cycle counting, transaction management, and annual physical inventories.
- Coordinate domestic and international shipments, intercompany transfers, and supplier container returns.
- Manage freight activities, including carrier selection, freight optimization, and coordination with third-party logistics providers.
- Maintain compliance with company policies, safety requirements, DOT regulations, and hazardous material handling procedures.
- Monitor and improve key performance indicators including inventory accuracy, on-time shipping, productivity, and safety performance.
- Collaborate with Production, Purchasing, Planning, and Quality teams to ensure uninterrupted material flow.
- Maintain warehouse organization, equipment, storage layouts, and facility housekeeping standards.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives utilizing Lean principles, 5S, and root-cause problem-solving methods.
- Develop and maintain department procedures, work instructions, and training documentation.
Qualifications:
- Strong knowledge of warehouse operations, inventory control, receiving, shipping, and logistics processes.
- Experience with ERP/MRP and warehouse management systems (WMS).
- Understanding of domestic and international freight practices and transportation regulations.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Outlook, and Word.
- Ability to analyze data and make informed operational decisions.
Education and/or Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Operations, or related field preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of warehouse, logistics, or materials management experience.
- Minimum 2 years of supervisory or team leadership experience in a manufacturing or distribution environment.
- Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
Certifications
- Forklift Certification required.
- DOT Hazardous Materials Training preferred.
- Lean Manufacturing exposure preferred.
Physical Requirements & Work Environment
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and lift up to 50 pounds as needed.
- Ability to operate powered industrial equipment.
- Work is performed in warehouse and manufacturing environments with exposure to varying temperatures, noise, and moving equipment.
- Safety glasses and other required PPE must be worn in designated areas.
- Occasional overtime, weekends, and support during inventory counts or production shutdowns may be required.
