Position Summary:  

The Lamination Technician applies fiberglass and resin to hull and/or deck molds. Multiple techniques are performed by the lamination technician in order to complete the best work possible. The Lamination Technician must be able to maneuver molds for the best angle/position to complete the assigned task.    

 

Responsibilities/Duties:

  • Move parts into the correct position within the lamination department.
  • Prep parts in accordance with Maverick Boat Group standards.
  • Select appropriate fiberglass material according to part model.
  • Roll out laminate, eliminating air bubbles using specific hand tools, rollers, etc.
  • Spray chopped fiberglass, resin and catalyst on mold, using pneumatic spray gun.
  • Always maintain cleanliness and functionality of the chop gun machine.
  • Trim excess material from mold using cutting tool.
  • Cut fiberglass mat from spool as needed using scissors.
  • Use mill gage to accurately determine material thickness.
  • Ability to perform job functions safely and effectively in a fast-paced environment while wearing all required PPE and following safety policy and hazardous material guidelines.
  • Must practice good housekeeping by keeping work areas clean at all times.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience: High School diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

Language Skills: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions.

 

Mathematical Skills: General math skills required.

 

Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving variables in procedures and/or environment.

Work Environment The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job (i.e., heat/cold, dust/dampness, height; chemical; noise; resin). PPE: Safety glasses, hard hat, cut glove, dust mask. Additional PPE may be required depending on the assigned workstation. Work environment includes fumes and airborne chemicals.
