Position Summary
The Building Construction Project Engineer supports MBA Energy & Industrial’s Structures Division in the coordination, planning, and execution of industrial building construction projects. This role provides hands-on experience across all project phases — from preconstruction and procurement to scheduling, field coordination, and closeout. The position serves as a critical bridge between project management and field operations, with a clear path toward future leadership opportunities within the organization.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist Project Managers and Superintendents in planning, scheduling, and executing industrial building projects.
- Procure materials, equipment, and subcontractor services; manage RFQs and purchase orders.
- Review, process, and track submittals, schedules, RFIs, and other project documentation.
- Negotiate subcontractor and vendor proposals to ensure quality, scope, and value alignment.
- Conduct job site visits to monitor construction progress, safety compliance, and adherence to design intent.
- Review drawings and coordinate with design teams to resolve conflicts and clarify project details.
- Document meeting notes, distribute minutes, and maintain organized communication logs.
- Assist with contract administration, change order documentation, and cost tracking.
- Support field operations and logistics, ensuring smooth coordination across teams.
- Promote company safety standards, quality expectations, and project goals across all activities.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related discipline.
- Strong work ethic and eagerness to learn the full lifecycle of industrial building construction.
- Basic understanding of construction principles, drawings, and specifications.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
Preferred Qualifications
- 1–3 years of relevant construction experience (industrial, commercial, or design-build).
- Familiarity with Procore, Bluebeam, or similar construction management tools.
- Knowledge of PEMB (Pre-Engineered Metal Building) systems and industrial building methods.
- Experience supporting project scheduling and cost control activities.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements
Work is primarily performed in an office setting with regular travel to job sites (approximately 40% travel). Field visits involve exposure to active construction environments including outdoor conditions and uneven terrain. Standard work hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with flexibility as required by project demands.
