THE OPPORTUNITY
Our client is seeking a Medical Malpractice Trial Attorney to join its Philadelphia office on a hybrid schedule. The ideal candidate has first chair jury trial experience in civil litigation and is either established in med mal defense or eager to build a practice in it.
Medical malpractice defense experience is preferred but not required. If you have first chair trial experience and a genuine interest in healthcare and professional liability defense, you are strongly encouraged to apply.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Serve as first chair in medical malpractice defense jury trials
- Manage a caseload of med mal matters from intake through verdict
- Take and defend depositions of physicians, experts, and fact witnesses
- Draft and argue dispositive motions, Daubert challenges, and motions in limine
- Develop case strategy in collaboration with nurse-paralegal staff and medical experts
- Work alongside partners and senior counsel on complex, high-exposure matters
- Maintain direct relationships with carrier clients and healthcare institutions
WHAT YOU BRING
- J.D. from an accredited law school and active Pennsylvania Bar admission (or eligibility)
- First chair jury trial experience ****Must Have
- Medical malpractice defense experience preferred; strong civil litigators from other backgrounds are welcome
- Comfort working with complex medical records, expert witnesses, and healthcare fact patterns
- Strong written and oral advocacy skills
- Ability to independently manage a demanding, high-stakes docket
- Barred in PA, NJ preferred
PRACTICE FOCUS
The attorney will focus primarily on medical malpractice defense, representing physicians, surgeons, specialists, and healthcare institutions.
