Tool & Die Maker-1st Shift
Position Summary
The Tool & Die Maker is responsible for the fabrication, repair, and precision maintenance of tools, dies, molds, jigs, and fixtures used in production. This role requires a fully qualified skilled tradesperson who can work independently, diagnose complex tooling issues, and perform precision machining and repair work with minimal supervision.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Tooling Fabrication & Repair
- Design, build, repair, and maintain tools, dies, molds, jigs, and fixtures used in production.
- Diagnose tooling issues and independently determine appropriate repair methods.
- Fabricate replacement components to exact tolerances.
- Precision Machining & Inspection
- Perform precision machining, grinding, welding, EDM, and polishing on tooling components.
- Read and interpret blueprints, CAD drawings, engineering specifications, and other technical documentation.
- Verify completed work meets dimensional and functional specifications using precision measuring instruments.
- Troubleshooting, Documentation & Improvement
- Maintain accurate documentation of repairs, modifications, and maintenance performed.
- Troubleshoot tooling failures and recommend design or process improvements to help prevent recurrence.
- Communicate tooling conditions, repair status, and technical concerns to department supervision and applicable internal teams.
- Safety & Shop Standards
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe shop environment.
- Follow all safety protocols, procedures, and required PPE practices
