Job Roles/Responsibilities:
• Work with the VP of PD to establish the strategic trend direction for RGI brand that crosses several categories and timelines.
• Comprehensive Review of Clients and Competitors Current Assortment and Price Matrix
• Analyze the marketplace and deliver competitive product analysis and consumer trend insights both formally and informally through store visits, online research and review of trade journals
• Identify White Space within product categories and drive development to grow volume.
• Implements and executes product development strategies from conception to production ready.
• Partner with Design Team on design creation/modifications for newness and customer specific needs.
• Creation of Design Brief focused on understanding needs of newness based on trends and current assortment best sellers and maximizing sales.
Sample Process
• Work with design to create blueprint artwork (tech packs).
• Reviewing product for color execution /quality.
• Work with Sample Coordinator to add to and maintain the sample grid and sample inventory
• Partner with overseas team and suppliers to ensure required levels of quality are always maintained.
• Good knowledge of color and relaying discrepancies and finding solutions to challenges.
• Track samples and be responsible for deadlines.
Business Knowledge:
• Cost negotiation: Understanding cost of goods and total Global trends impacting sourcing and costing strategies.
• Create RFQs and work with Senior Director to ensure product fits within IMU price targets. Developing product that fits within required price points by category/ material
• Work with Senior Director to ensure strategies are executed and prioritized to fiscal projections and to ensure brand is tracking to company wide initiatives and Must Wins.
• Cross functional team alignment timelines: Builds calendar with alignment from cross-functional team.
Ensures all teams are well versed and adhering to calendar and process.
• Sales: Interprets and reacts to sales data effectively - builds development strategy as a result.
• Be the expert in terms of product knowledge: material, specification, production, regional / COO sourcing, cost engineering/ cost componentry.
• Understand vendor capabilities and create strong partnership with Sourcing to identify where designs are placed for development.
• Ensuring brand integrity and quality expectations that align with the production capabilities of our vendor partners
Travel:
• Domestic travel to evaluate product opportunities may be required based on the needs of the business.
Skill Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Minimum of five to seven years previous related experience required, preferably in product development in retail and/or off price in categories such as home, apparel and accessories.
• Ability to think strategically and conceptually.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong negotiation and vendor management skills.
• Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment with a sense of urgency while remaining organized.
• Ability to problem-solve, manage projects and timelines, and complete in-depth analysis to recommend best decision.
• Highly motivated self-starter able to work in a fast-paced retail environment.
• Flexible, positive attitude. Proactive nature and ability to act with a sense of urgency and attention to detail
